Web Apps

Web apps, also known as Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), are websites that can be downloaded and run like a native app.

Web Apps work on most operating systems and devices—from mobile to desktop, TVs, and beyond—all without the management required by native apps. Learn more in this article to see if a web app is right for your project.

About Web Apps:

  • Distribution Methods: Direct Install

  • Compatibility: iOS, Android, Windows, macOS

Publishing a Web App

  1. Make sure the project has an App subscription plan.

  2. In the navbar, press the Publish button to open the Publish Menu.

  3. Go to the Web tab, ensure the Free Site switch is toggled on, and toggle on the Web App switch.

  4. Set the App Icon and App Name as desired.

  5. Press Push Content Update. This updates the website to include web app functionality.

The web app is now enabled. To download it, open the website in a browser and look for a download button in the URL bar, or check for a "Download Website" option in the browser's settings. Once downloaded, you can run the web app on your device, including offline.

Publishing or unpublishing a web app may take several minutes to appear live on the web.

Updating a Live Web App

  1. Press the Publish dropdown button in the navbar to open the Publish Menu.

  2. Go to the Web tab.

  3. Press Push Content Update.
