Websites

Designware publishes fully-hosted websites for free, including multiple custom domain connections.

Publishing a Website

All projects begin on the Free Site plan, and always have web publishing available.

  1. In the navbar, press the Publish button to open the Publish Menu.

  2. In the Web tab, toggle on the switch next to "Free Website".

  3. Set the website settings as desired:

    • Browser Icon—the favicon that appears in browser tabs.

    • Site Name—the website's name.

    • Browser Tab Title—the label next to the icon in browser tabs.

  4. Press Push Content Update.

You're live! The site will be visible right away at the default Designware domain provided.

The website can be unpublished by toggling off the switch next to "Free Website".

Publishing or unpublishing a website can take several minutes to appear live on the web.

Updating a Live Website

To update a website, web app, and all native app formats together, in the navbar press the Publish dropdown button › Push Content Update.

To update just the website/web app:

  1. Press the Publish button in the navbar to open the Publish Menu.

  2. Go to the Web tab.

  3. Press Push Content Update.

Content updates can take several minutes to appear live on the web.

Custom Domains

Personalized domains can be purchased from registrars like GoDaddy or Netfirms, and connected to hosted Designware sites.

Enabling Connectivity

  1. Make sure no other projects or services are using the domain.

  2. Sign in to the registrar account where you purchased the domain, then:

    • Go to the domain's settings.

    • Go to DNS Records, sometimes under an option like "Manage DNS".

    • Edit the entry for "A" or "A Record" (access record). If none exists then create one.

    • Replace the entry's IP address with: 206.189.241.70

    • Save the edit.

The domain is now ready to connect to your Designware site.

Connecting the Domain

In the Publish Menu under the Web tab:

  • Press ➕ next to "Domains".

  • Input the domain in the field that appears, and press Apply.

The domain will be saved, and can be selected to open the site, or removed from its options menu.

If the domain has an error and appears red, it may be because:

  • Some domains can take up to 24 hours to go live with a new site.

  • The domain's A record was not updated correctly.

  • Another Designware project is already using the domain.

If the problem persists, please contact us.
